2013: A Look Back

This has been such a great year for Snap It See It. We did out first blog post in January and it’s been a blur ever sense. Honestly, I did not expect the support the blog received, but the instant film community is awesome and I’m amazed everyday at the work I see posted with our hashtag. We would like to give a big thank you to The Impossible Project and Cub & Co. for allowing us to do some cool giveaways. We hope that we can put some more cool stuff in your hands in 2014!

Our most popular and regular feature since the start of the blog has been our weekly Artist Spotlights. We have featured some amazing people on the blog, and hope to showcase even more talent in 2014. If you want to be featured, drop us a line. If there is someone you want to see featured, give us there name so we can bug the crap out of them!

Seriously though, this blog is about the people in this community. People that shoot instant film. People that may not be a professional photographer. People that have the desire to create something tangible. We look forward to what 2014 has in store for us!

Lets take a look back at 2013 and some great work from our Spotlights.

Now, earlier this year we took on a big project, 600 On A 600. The idea was simple. Send a Polaroid 600 camera to 75 photographers and have them shoot 8 exposures of Impossible Project film. Well, this project has been a chore to organize. It’s had some complications. We have lost cameras and lost participants. But through the up’s and down’s, we have witnessed some great and personal work come from these little cameras. The list is long and slow, but we are still at it and each time we get an email with someones images we get excited. Here is a small sample of what has come in so far.

Something we started a little later in the year, but has become a huge hit, is our Featured Friday. People submitting work and uploading images in the Snap It See It Flickr pool has made this segment of the blog a great place to gather inspiration for the weekend. Please continue to send your images in. We love them, and can’t wait to feature more! Here’s a look back at some of the work submitted. I wish we could just post them all again. You don’t have to wait till Friday for inspiration. New work is added to the Flickr pool daily. Check it out here.

Well, thats it. 2013 in a nutshell. Thanks again to everyone who has made the blog possible. Thanks for putting up with bad grammar, late post and a few malfunctions along the way. This has been a learning experience for us and we truly love you all for standing by through the growing pains.

I’ll leave you with my favorite image of 2013. This is Andy, my mini me. He’s smart, funny and a hand full at times. He’s all boy! I can’t imagine the world without him.
